Pastel Basics for Beginners (or those wishing to try a new medium)
Join award winning artist, Brenda L. Ochodnicky for an interactive and relaxed learning experience that lets your creative voice flourish. This workshop's subject matter is still life and ideal for those who appreciate details. Think Andrew Weyeth & Rembrandt!
Join us where you will learn from live demonstration and a hands-on step by step creation of your own work of art!
You'll learn:
You will observe a step by step live demo and then use skills learned to create your own 6x6 soft pastel work of art.
Workshop fee includes all materials. Students receive a goodie bag with a set of student grade soft pastel sticks, art eraser, blending tool, portfolio with pastel papers and a workbook handout. Please bring a pen/pencil for note taking.
Class size is limited to 10 adults (18+). *Student grade supplies provided or you can bring your own. We DO NOT use oil pastels.
* if you would like to purchase a good starter set of professional grade soft pastels I recommend the 15 piece half stick set by Rembrandt and a small set of CarboThello or Dewent brand pastel pencils, all are available on Amazon or Dick Blick Art Supply online.

- about basic composition & color theory
- what supplies are essential & what to avoid
- different types of papers & surfaces, and
- step by step process for setting up a painting using a photo reference, and layering & blending

- tips & trick to enhance your paintings
- how to avoid common beginner mistakes

ZenArt ink drawing is a great medium and style that lets you relax and enjoy your creative side! This is an artistic journey in which you'll learn an art form that brings countless hours of mindful awareness and concentrated joy.
